DETOX YOUR HOME BODY AND MIND

Its time to stop and think before we put a shampoo full of chemicals like sodium lauryl sulphate on our head. In a hot shower, the pores of the scalp open and absorb all the chemicals from that shampoo - you know the one - it claims to make our hair 'healthier', 'shinier'...Our blood carries these toxins throughout the body to be stored in our major organs. What! The manufacturer forgot to mention you could possibly end up with cataracts, impaired hair growth or allergies as well...

Wendy says the chemicals found in household cleaners and food products can cause a variety of problems.
"It can range from stinging eyes, stomach problems, hormonal problem- children's behavioural problems, allergies and cancers," she says.

Getting rid of toxic products isn't that hard, says Wendy. "Just replace things with natural products when you can and where you can," she says.

The real surprise though, is the hidden dangers in teenager Page's make-up.

Having removed the many offending items from the Taylor household, Wendy sets about offering up alternative products made from all-natural ingredients.
For an all-purpose spray Wendy mixes up water, liquid soap, Borax and Eucalyptus, lemon and lavender oils.

"I believe that the change in diet and lifestyle have made a difference," says mum Donna. "I'm really comfortable continuing to use the organic stuff. I think it's good," she says.
Dr Margaret Hartley from the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme says chemicals and products purchased at a supermarket are safe to use.
Dr Hartley says consumers have nothing to fear from common chemicals but should be wise in how they handle such products.
